Holy Ghost Church was founded by CarpathoRussian immigrants in 1919 in Detroit, MI. The Church was originally on Finley Ave, in Detroit, and moved in the 1950's to a new building on Mound Rd. Property was purchased in the 1980's and a hall and rectory were built and occupied in 1991. Currently a portion of the hall is used for a church. Recently we burned the mortgage, and are preparing to build on land next to the hall, the footings having been in place since the early 1990's. The parish rector is responsible for the spiritual life of the parish, and works for the mission of the church in conjunction with an elected parish council, who then are responsible to the Bishop and the church assembly. We do practice an active synergy of the hierarchy and the laity as the fullness of the Body of Christ. We are a parish of the Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese of the USA, Canada, and Australia. Our Hierarch is His Eminence, Metropolitan Joseph, and our Patriarch is His Holiness Maxim of Bulgaria.
